Times Square for the month of March.
Last year’s Midnight Moment partnership. Moving Image, Microscope Gallery, Times Square Arts, and the Times Square Advertising Coalition presented Peggy Awesh's 'City Thermogram' in April, 2015.
(New York, NY) November 11, 2015 —Midnight Moment, a presentation of the Times Square Advertising Coalition (TSAC) and Times Square Arts, announced it will once again partner with Moving Image, a moving image-based art fair, taking place March 3-6, 2016 at the Waterfront Tunnel event space on 11th Avenue in Chelsea. For the third year in a row, Moving Image will solicit proposals from artists represented by galleries participating in the fair to have their work shown on Times Square’s electronic billboards.
Sherry Dobbin, Director, Times Square Arts, will work with Moving Image to select one video from the submissions, which will be screened March 1-31, 2016 as part of Midnight Moment.
Times Square Arts Director Sherry Dobbin says, "Times Square Advertising Coalition and Times Square Arts are proud to collaborate again with Moving Image NYC as they have consistently introduced us to new artists pushing the boundaries of video art. Partnering allows us to leverage our platform to give visibility for the artist, the gallery and the fair as a free NYC cultural offering."
Moving Image co-founders Edward Winkleman and Murat Orozobekov noted "Our ongoing partnership with Times Square Advertising Coalition and Times Square Arts for the Midnight Moment project has been extremely popular among the fair's participating galleries and supporters. We are delighted to be collaborating again with the TSAC and TSA teams on bringing cutting-edge moving image art work to public in this spectacular venue."
Moving Image art fair will take place March 3-6, 2016 in Chelsea’s Waterfront Tunnel event space on 11th Avenue between 27th and 28th Streets. Moving Image will be free to the public and open Thursday–Saturday 11 a.m.–8:00 p.m., and on Sunday, March 6, 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. An opening reception will take place Thursday, March 3, 6:00–8:00 p.m.
About Midnight Moment
Midnight Moment is the largest coordinated effort in history by the sign operators in Times Square to display synchronized, cutting-edge, creative content on electronic billboards and newspaper kiosks throughout Times Square every night. The program premiered in May 2012 and is organized and supported by the Times Square Advertising Coalition in partnership with Times Square Arts, the public art program for the Times Square Alliance, with additional partners of participating sign holders and artists.

Every show begins at 11:57 p.m. with a "countdown" that signals the start of the three minute nightly presentation. Past artists featured in the program include Rashaad Newsome; Osgemeos; Eric Dyer; Richard Garet; Andy Warhol; Peggy Ahwesh; Marco Brambilla; Rafaël Rozendaal; Sebastian Errazuriz; Charles Atlas and Antony; Noah Hutton; Ryoji Ikeda; Daniel Canogar; Alfredo Jaar; Isaac Julien; Robert Wilson; Tracey Emin; Seoungho Cho; Vicki DaSilva, Surabhi Saraf, and Elly Cho; Erika Janunger; Takeshi Murata; Bel Borba with Burt Sun and André Costantini; Zach Nader; Brian Gonzalez (aka Taxiplasm); Björk; JR; Ryan McGinley; Jack Goldstein; Nature Theater of Oklahoma; Ezra Wube; Laleh Khorramian; Brian Dailey; Leslie Thornton; and Yoko Ono. Through the Square's electronic billboards, public plazas, vacant areas and popular venues, and the Alliance's own online landscape, Times Square Arts invites leading contemporary creators to help the public see Times Square in new ways. Times Square has always been a place of risk, innovation and creativity, and the Arts Program ensures these qualities remain central to the district's unique identity.
